Now this is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed on the Compass. And it does have a really clean look to it because it's a hidden cross tube, meaning the only thing that you're gonna see visible while installed is gonna be the receiver tube opening. So you get all the nice clean look of that hidden cross tube, but the usability of your two inch by two inch hitch. And with that size, you're gonna have tons of options when it comes to bike racks, cargo carriers, or ball mounts. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Jeep Compass- Video

Rob: Hey everybody, it's Rob here at Etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the CURT Class three custom-fit trailer hitch receiver on our 2019 Jeep Compass. Now we know everybody wants to look at it and go over some of the features, so we're going to go ahead and do that first, but if you stick around to the end of the video, we're also going to show you how to get it installed so you can have the confidence to do it at home. But we do have our hitch in place, and I think it's a really good looking hitch, mainly because the crosstube's completely hidden, so the only thing we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out of the bottom of our Jeep, gives it almost a factory OEM type look to it and again not have that big bar hanging down below our Jeep, distracting from the looks. But it is a class three, so it is going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube openings, so we're going to have a really wide variety of options when it comes to accessories that we can mount up.Obviously everybody knows you can tow a trailer with a trailer hitch, put a ball mount in there, hookup really easy but at the same time if we want to hit the trails, go with some friends, the park, something like that, we can take some bikes with us. Or for going on a road trip, we can make some room on the inside of our Compass, move some of that gear to the outside with the cargo carrier, but regardless of how you're going to be using your hitch, all the accessories you're going to use are going to mount to the hitch pinhole here on the side. Our CURT Hitch is going to accept a standard 5-8 pin and clip. more

Our Draw-Tite is going to be visible off the bottom of the vehicle where Curt is actually going to be hidden, which is going to require some fascia trimming. Our Draw-Tite is going to have a pre-mounted bracket for any wiring accessories, where your CURT's not going to have that.With our Draw-Tite, safety chain loops, you can see we're going to have plate style. more

Now here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. There's a really clean, almost factory appearance because, as you can see, almost all the hitch is going to be completely hidden except for the receiver tube. That's really nice, not only because it's not going to take away from the aesthetics of our Jeep, but it helps out quite a bit with ground clearance. We don't have a cross tube that's spanning from side to side below the bumper, reducing that amount. more

From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 13 and 3/4 inches. Before we begin our installation, let's go over the tools that we're going to use to install our hitch today. You'll need a safety strap to help support your exhaust, little bit of spray lubricant, large pry bar, couple 3/4 inch wrenches, 3/4 inch socket and a torque wrench. Now that we've gone over our tools, lets go ahead and begin our installation. We're going to begin our installation here underneath the vehicle and we're going to need to put a safety strap to help support our exhaust. more

Today on this 2010 Jeep Compass, we're going to be installing Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 75712, and this installation will also apply to Hidden Hitch part number 87606. Before we get started with our hitch installation we are going to go ahead and give you a couple final install dimensions which are going to help make choosing your hitch accessories a little easier. From the top of the receiver opening to the ground is going to measure 14-1/2 inches, and from the center of the pin hole clear to the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 6 inches. Now lets go ahead and move on to our installation. Starting over here on the drivers side of the vehicle if you look toward the inside of the frame on the inboard side you can see we've got two existing holes here. more
